| New Destinations in April! Diving in the Netherlands, cold but rewarding. Diving in the Netherlands is done in rivers, lakes, the many seas surrounding this tiny country and even in the canals. There is water everywhere as this little country in Northern Europe is below sea level. The water is pretty cold year-round but there is lots to see and the Dutch will find a reason to dive in any kind of water... Dive Global's newest Diver's Tale is about exiting cage shark diving in Gansbaai. South Africa is not only a great destination for spotting the so called "big five" like lions, leopards and elephants, it is also THE place to encounter the Great White. Join us on our thrilling dive at Dyer Islandin Gansbaai, home of this majestic animal... Remote Cocos Island lies 375 miles off the coast of Costa Rica and is famous for its large shark populations. We spent ten days on the Okeanos Aggressor, captained by Alberto, a very enthusiastic instructor and dive master. This liveaboard offers excellent service and thrilling diving. Read about this Trip of the Month in the waters surrounding beautiful Cocos Island. Currents can be very strong and this isn't a destination for beginner divers or the faint of heart, but definitely rewarding! Bring an underwater camera, you're guaranteed to come back with excellent shots. Destination of the Month: the Brother Islands. These "islands" are located in the middle of the Red Sea. They are the only significant reefs in the area, and as such act as a magnet for any pelagic and reef fishes. Washed as they are by the full force of open-sea currents, they support an incredible dense and diverse coral population, with almost overwhelmingly beautiful soft coral growth on all sides. |
| April Favorites Tanya Streeter is the World Champion Freediver! Dive Global ask her why she loves this "extreme sport" so much, how she spent her childhood in the Cayman Islands and her quest to protect the marine environment El nino, la nina, we hear about it so much lately but what is it exactly? Find out at our Site of the Month. There's talk about warming of the seas which could result in our favorite dive sites not having the usual abundance in coral and sea life. Find out what it is all about before you go. This site explains the ins and outs of this phenomena and tries to predict what's coming... Shot of the Month is taken in Pulau Redang by Bob Poh from Singapore. Pulau Redang is one of the islands off the State of Terengganu in West Malaysia. Only a 45 minute flight followed by a 40 minute boat ride from Kuala Lumpur, it is still relatively undeveloped and unspoiled. This island provides excellent opportunities for underwater photography. |
